Teaching Inquiry - Reading
The first steps that I took in my inquiry were to choose my target group (3 students) and observe them reading, mostly what do they do when they find an unknown word.

Matariki Day at Pt England School 2020
Our school celebrated Matariki Day at the end of last term. Around the school, the students read stories, baked, painted, made different crafts or made movies. This is a short video about we have done. Enjoy!

DFI Week Nine - Reflections
This course has been a great journey for me. Some "landmarks" have been new to me, some of them I revisited, and some I saw them in a different light. It's been a joyful ride and I am glad I had the opportunity to take part. Also, this experience opens up new questions, new pursuits and new adventures.

DFI Week Eight - Reflections
Today's session focussed on computational thinking. It was a relatively new subject for me so I was really curious to learn. It was an interesting session where I got the chance to try different coding resources (studio.code.org, compute.it.toxicode.fr/).
Next term we are going to learn about Position and Orientation for Maths, so it will be a great opportunity to share with my students what I have learned today.

DFI Week Seven - Reflections
This week's session was focussed on the use of devices (iPad and Chromebook) from the student's and teacher's perspectives.
The use of devices from the student's view enabled me to understand some of the frustrations my student may feel when working on their tasks due to lack of visibility (small screen, different brightness) and to be mindful when designing learning tasks by avoiding moving of small objects, filling in small boxes, or low quality or small pictures.
On the other hand, utilising the device from the teacher's view, helped me gain new knowledge about shortcuts, but also the multiple use of Explain Everything and Whiteboard.

DFI Week Six - Reflections
Today's session was focussed on enabling access to learning through Google Sites. Sharing and talking about our class sites with our bubble colleagues and getting feedback was really helpful.
It was a productive session for my professional development and I'm looking forward the next session dedicated to devices.
